One year later, we purchased a business in Pass Creek and are enjoying the lovely scenary we stare at everyday, it's a welcome change from the city. “ My Cousin and his Wife live in Castlegar, my Brother in Rossland and over the last 20 years I have visited The Kootenays 6 or 7 times and Castlegar and the area are one of my favourite places.
I have enjoyed walking and hiking in the area and have had such fun in particular Log rolling (not very successfully) at Syringa Creek.I am thinking of visiting again this year and for the first time I will get the plane from Calgary or Vancouver into Castlegar - looking forward to the views as I come into the airport - my camera will be ready!!
And it's not just Castlegar - most Canadians I have met seem so friendly, laid back, and willing to help.
Can't wait to re-visit. ”

Went to a Hot springs just 2 hours away from Castlegar and that's something ill never forget and hope to go again when i come back. Couldn't get over the sight of hidden waterfalls and the view. ”

“ This city is amazing!I lvoe it so much. We were there for mining business, not only it is beautiful, but people are extrememly nice and helpful. The Best Western Hotel treat us like king, we missed our luggage during flight, we forget to book a rental vehicle and we did not know where is place to eat, to rent vehicle, they solve all problem s for us, Lord, just amazing! I have been working for Wal-Mart for 4 and half years in the field of customer service, but people in Castlegar is amzing ! totally amazing ! will definitely come back and say hello for sure! ”

“ I lived in Robson with my brother for a year--1981-82. Is the dam still up crossing the river and has the ferry expanded?? Tried to look for pictures of them, but couldn't find any on this site. Also, my uncle used to own the Shell station in China Creek--spent many summers there growing up!! Hope to make a trip that way soon--will sure bring up alot of good memories!! ”

“ Visited Castlegar twice now and enjoyed both visits. Stayed with my relatives The Gibsons on 2nd Street. The castlegar area is warm and wonderful place with lots of really friendly people.They are a credit to Canada. Here's looking at my 3rd visit sometime soon hopefully. ”

“ Castlegar offers wonderful adventures for the young and the old,hikers,mountain @ dirt bikers, fishing,golf,camping,the best of winter entertainment for skiers,snowmobile,snowboarders,alaws something on the go availiable in the entertainment sector whether it be sports of all types,music festivals,fairs,colleges at our disposal,we have several programs they offer,so many to meantion, Castlegar is the "Little Big City" who would not want to move here when everything is at your disposal even within a small walking , riding,distance or just a short drive.What more could you ask for! ”

"The Community Complex is home the Castlegar & District Seniors Association. The Senior Center is open Monday to Friday 9 am - 4 pm as a drop in center. Activities include floor curling, carpet bowling, bridge, bingo, darts and crib."
