Planning & Development
- Council approved Temporary Use Permit 3/21 to allow the operation of a winter shelter for up to 13 persons at 1660 Columbia Avenue in alignment with the City’s recently adopted requirements for emergency housing. The Temporary Use Permit expires September 1, 2022.
- Council gave First and Second Reading to Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw 1365 and Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1366 to allow Castlegar Search and Rescue to expand space for their operations approximately 150 metres from their current location at 202 Beresford Road. It is anticipated that five temporary accessory buildings will shelter vehicles and equipment, and additional vehicles and equipment may be kept outside of the buildings. The Bylaw amendments have been referred to a Public Hearing scheduled for November 15, 2021.
Council authorized spending up to $6,000 to facilitate technology components of a hybrid electronic meeting and participation system to be funded from the COVID-19 Safe Restart Grant. Council will consider amending Council Procedures Amendment Bylaw No. 1363 at the November 1, 2021 Regular Council Meeting which will allow the public to participate electronically when Council returns to in person meetings and allows more flexibility for councillors when they need to participate remotely.
Records & Information Management Bylaw
Council proceeded with the required readings for Records and Information Management Bylaw No. 1362 which provides for the systematic control of the creation, use, maintenance, storage, security, retrieval, and disposition of records by the City.
