Ootischenia Landfill
Castlegar’s closest landfill is the Ootischenia Landfill, located at 670 Columbia Road and is maintained by the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK).

The Ootischenia landfill is CLOSED on Sundays and on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day
- Family Day
- Good Friday and Easter Sunday
- Victoria Day, Canada Day, BC Day, Labour Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Remembrance Day
- Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The landfill will close at 2 pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
